Keep the cover on whenever the tub is not in use and add a cover lifter so it is never dragged across the deck. Sweep the cover with a soft brush before you open it, and set a filter cycle to run after you close up in the evening. A tub placed a few feet outside the drip line of a maple collects far less debris than one directly beneath it.
The cover is built to carry a normal load, but repeated heavy dumps in Strathroy, Lucan or Ilderton should be brushed off rather than left to sit and turn to ice.
